Work plan Trigonometric Functions The graph of the sine function y=sin(x) and in general the graph of a function of the form: y=A*sin(2*pi*(x-x0)/T) is called a sinusoid. The purpose of the following
example is to show that the graph of y=cos(x) is also a sinusoid.
Using this applet a pupil may be asked to find the value of a for which sin(x+a/2)=cos(x)
for every x, and realize that the value is equal to pi=3.1416. The next example includes black, blue and red SEGMENTS (labeled with their lengths) to illustrate the meaning
of the parameters A, x0
and T, respectively, in the general expression of a
sinusoid: y=A*sin(2*pi*(x-x0)/T)
These examples illustrate the use of the tools EQUATIONS and SEGMENTS. Introduction Appetizer Examples Documentation Applications
