Work plan Dots The following example illustrates the use of the tools PARAMETERS and POINTS. Two parameters X and Y are defined (notice the
use of capital letters to avoid the names x and y which are reserved to be used for the x and y variables which
play a special role in FUNCTIONS and EQUATIONS). Also a point P with coordinates X and Y is defined. At the
bottom line of the applet two controls appear through which the values of X and Y may be modified, either
by clicking on the little arrows to increase or decrease the value or by writing the
desired value on the text field and typing <return>.
The changes on X and Y are
reflected on the position of P. While maintaining the left button pressed over one
arrow the value change repeatedly and the point P moves.
On this applet a pupil may be asked to move the point P
to some specified position by modifying the values of the coordinates X and Y. Also some fixed points A,
B, C and D may be added, as it is done
in the next applet, and the student may be asked to make P coincide with
each of these points and in this way he or she will obtain the coordinates of the fixed
points:
The reader should click the config button and look at the configurations
of PARAMETERS and POINTS
to see how this particular configuration was achieved. Introduction Appetizer Examples Documentation Applications
