A Spiral Curve

The tool CURVES is used to define a curve by means of parametric equations. The parametric equations must be defined in terms of the variable   t. The coordinate functions of  t defining the curve must be written in the configuration line of the curve between square brackets like this: [f(t),g(t)]. The following example illustrates how to create a curve in Descartes.

In this example the curve [f(t),g(t)] is determined by the functions f(x) and g(x) defined with the tool  FUNCTIONS by these expressions:

f=a*cos(x+c)/sqrt(1+x^2)

and

g=b*sin(x+c)/sqrt(1+x^2)

The parametric equations are defined in terms of three parameters a , b and c that the user may change as he or she wishes.
